Boat Overview

“Andrasta” is for sale. She is a custom-built Iceni 39, designed, engineered, and built in Britain. Initially launched in 2013, she has undergone a process of continual improvement and IRC optimisation. She is ideally suited for the 2025 Admiral’s Cup Class 2, upper band 1.276 and max LH 13.40.

Construction and Trials

She was designed and built in East Anglia, United Kingdom, by the English boat builders Iceni Yachts. Shortly after her launch in June 2013, she went on to the Mediterranean for extensive sea trials from Biscay to the Bay of Lions.

During her sea trials, she competed at the prestigious Voiles de Saint-Tropez, taking line honours in the 2nd race of that Regatta. She won her first Cup, the EAORA Walker Challenge, on home turf in Harwich, Essex. Following that, she was the 3rd (under 40 foot) monohull to cross the finish line in the 2015 Fastnet Race, with eight crew who had never sailed together before.

Enhancements and Reviews

She underwent several enhancements in the 2015 season, leading to a Yachts and Yachting Review by Andi Robertson concluding that ‘The Iceni 39 is a British built all-rounder with bags of potential!’ He added ‘a fundamentally good boat, which is fun to sail,’ followed by another encouraging review in Yachting Life in early 2016.

In 2019, she underwent further enhancements including a fuller square top main, a revised foil planform, and a deeper keel. The aim was to increase upwind performance together with downwind stability. The resulting IRC penalty was offset by significant performance gains well over the increase in IRC.

Performance and Coded Status

“Andrasta” is a high-performance, well-built, specialist offshore racer. She has a stripped-down interior with few comforts, therefore only suitable for experienced offshore racing sailors.

In the 2023 season, she underwent further enhancements including the installation of variable water ballast tanks and a revised sail plan review. The resulting IRC rating dropped to 1.176.

She is currently MCA Coded (Cat 2) for 10 crew until May 2026. This would need to be revised by the new owner in accordance with MGN 280 (M).
