Above all, a yacht must be elegant with sharp lines and fine details. The Philippe Briand designed Sun Odyssey 409 is not only elegant, but also built for speed. A modern hull with a hard chine and excellent stability makes the Sun Odyssey 409 a pleasure to sail.
“Big Doris” was sold by Sea Ventures new to her first owner and then again to her current owner who now has a new yacht on order for 2025. A number of enhancements to the equipment and specification have been made in the last few seasons. This stunning yacht has been professionally maintained and is truly “ready to go”. She benefits from having the very versatile 3 double cabin with 2 heads layout.

Owners Comments
Although this is a very comfortable, 3 x double cabin / 2 x heads cruising boat it is quick, very stiff and happy to sit on its chine without any drama. Whilst it’s not a racing boat there is no reason why it shouldn’t do the occasional club event, and distinguish itself. It can certainly embarrass some the of the ‘racing’ boats out there when just out for a weekend potter!
Very easy to sail short handed with everything coming back to the cockpit.
The feathering prop takes the drama out of docking with an instant response when switching between forward and astern and cruising in the 6-6.5 knots range fuel consumption of approximately 2.5 litres per hour which gives a huge range without worry.
